How can you help?
Get involved in the Elmonica School community. The more active and involved parents are in the lives of their children, the more successful those children will be at school. What's more, this partnership helps form a foundation for future successful life experiences.
Now, take a look at your commitments. We all have them. I s there some project or program that interests you? Where would you like to put forth your efforts? Where could you squeeze in some time on a project for an hour? Is there something that you could do in the evenings or weekends? If you can donate just 2 hours ANYTIME during the school year, you will have made a significant impact.
Please click here to become acquainted with the Volunteer Handbook (coming soon), where you will find volunteer opportunities for the 2012-2013 school year. Whether you are interested in an "ongoing", "done in a day", or "short term" job, there are many ways to get involved.
For those of you who wish to help in your child's classroom, please consider becoming a Parent Representative for your child's grade level. More information will be available at Back to School Night September 13th. In addition, teachers will alert you as to what their individual classroom needs are through classroom correspondence. Please remember that your help in the classroom gives our teachers the ability to spend more time teaching our children and meeting the needs of each individual student. By volunteering, you also get a rewarding glimpse into your child's daily life and how they are progressing in school!
You'll find a list of events below that are still in need of chairpersons. Volunteers are also needed in the ESL classes and should be arranged directly with those specialists.
Thank you for being an "active" part of this learning year. I look forward to meeting each one of you.

Background Checks For All Volunteers
Beginning in Fall 2008, Beaverton School District began requiring background checks for all volunteers. Elmonica volunteers will need to complete a one page form available online at:
www.beaverton. k12.or.us/volunteer
Volunteers may also go to the office and use one of the computers to complete this very brief online application. Once completed your name and phone number will appear on an approved volunteer list available to appropriate staff and volunteer coordinators.
Open Chair Positions - We Need You!
The following event chairpersons are needed to organize an event - some are go on throughout the school year and some are one-day events. If you may be able to help with any of these event, please e-mail VolunteerCoordinator@elmonicapto.org.
Volunteer Hours
Are you keeping track of your volunteer hours? Do you log in every time you enter the school and designate your hours? When you help the school by doing projects at home or in off-hour meetings are you keeping track of your time? Have you input all those hours at the "help counter" in the front office? Please take a moment and update our records. We would like to thank you for your volunteer work and let the district know how awesome our volunteers are! If you need help with this process, please just send us a note and we will help you through it. volunteercoordinator@elmonicapto.org
Intel Volunteer Matching Hours
Intel parents please remember to log your hours at http://intelinvolved.intel.com/oregon. Elmonica will be become eligible after 20 volunteer hours for the school are logged in by parents. After the 20 hours are reached, the more hours that are recorded means more money for the school. Thank you for your support!
